Technology- How It Works ?

Baculoviruses are genetically modified to house a human gene or genes (e.g. VEGF, PDGFb)

Eo_circle_amber_number-2.svg

Baculoviruses are protected by encapsulation in a biodegradable coating

Eo_circle_amber_number-3.svg

Encapsulated baculoviruses are coated on to a medical device such as a film-dressing, suture, stent or in a gel

After deployment, the biodegradable coating dissolves – releasing the baculoviruses next to the target cells

Baculoviruses enter the local cells, transported to the nucleus where the human gene is transcribed.
Active growth factor is released

Film-Dressing
Locally released PDGFb promotes and accelerates wound healing. Gene expression is TRANSIENT. Baculoviral DNA is subsequently destroyed.
